Will Orphans Star Alec Baldwin Be NBC's Next Late-Night Host?

Orphans star Alec Baldwin could be the newest addition to NBC’s late-night lineup! According to The New York Times, the Peacock network is currently considering a late-night show hosted by Baldwin. The Emmy winner and Tony nominee is a longtime friend of NBC thanks to his role as Jack Donaghy on the recently-ended 30 Rock, and his countless appearances on Saturday Night Live over the years.

NBC’s late-night schedule has been in a state of upheaval, with the recent announcement that Jimmy Fallon will take over The Tonight Show and replace Jay Leno next year. That leaves a spot open on Fallon’s Late Night, which reportedly could be filled by SNL star Seth Meyers. Baldwin is said to be in early talks for a half-hour show in the 1:35 AM timeslot, which is currently occupied by Last Call with Carson Daly.

Baldwin is currently starring as Harold in the Broadway premiere of Orphans, which opens at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on April 18. Directed by Tony winner Daniel Sullivan, and co-starring Ben Foster and Tom Sturridge, the Lyle Kessler play is the story of orphaned brothers living a rough life in North Philly and what happens when they kidnap a Chicago gangster.
